There were 318 74′ Barracuda from the factory.
The 318 was a VERY popular engine option.

  2. Paul Orozco says:

I am new to Mopar. I’ve got two tags on a 1972 Dodge “Demon” that I cant seem to decipher. A big hint is the car came from Venezuela so I believe that is where it was assembled. They manufactured cars, including the Dodge Dart and Coronet, at two Chrysler plants there from 1965 to 1979.

    TAG #1 reads as follows:
    AH 11222 HL441 29

TAG #2 (door) reads as follows:
    AH 11222 HL441 29
    HY5 Y5

    The engine block is stamped:
    1M31804300226

Any help I can get is much appreciated.

    I can send photos

So many questions! This chart applies to the 1970/1971 models only.
Scott, the 1974 model year was the last year of the Challenger and Barracudas. 318s were pretty common. The 360-4 was the unicorn.
Shane, the 1968 numbers are close, but look for a decoder online.
Kathy, the fender tags and the build sheets under the seats will have the original paint code
James, contact Galen Govier for the information you need.
Mark, in 1972 the RP was the Satellite and GTX prefix code
Michael, what year car are you trying to decide?
Peter, this chart won’t help you decide a Volare. Wrong year.
Bruce, the Hemi never came with the Six Pack, only dual quads. Conversely, the 440 was never offered with dual quads.
Jerry and Kern, Galen Govier is who you need.
    Hope this helps.
